BlackishGear has released a hatchet that is dyed black all the way to the tip!
This was made possible through collaboration with 96 (KURO), a black dye manufacturer in Tsubame-Sanjo!

・The craftsmanship of Tsubame-Sanjo artisans x BlackishGear's commitment The "BLACK FORGE HATCHET" is a jet-black hatchet born from a collaboration between the proud craftsmanship of Tsubame-Sanjo, Japan, and BlackishGear's pursuit of black gear.
It has an all-black design that is dyed black all the way to the tip of the blade, and is a special edition with a collaborative double-name logo engraved on it.

The lineup includes two blades: NB (Narrow Blade) with a thin blade and BB (Broad Blade) with a thick blade.
You can choose the one that best suits your firewood splitting style.

Since this affects the sharpness of regular blades, the blades are sharpened after being stained.
However, this BLACK FORGE HATCHET has its blade sharpened and then dyed black, so it can be made black all the way to the tip.
Of course, this does not affect the sharpness, and it boasts outstanding sharpness.

How is that possible?
This is possible thanks to the advanced black dyeing technology used to change the color of an extremely thin film.

◾️MADE IN JAPAN: "Black dyeing" achieved through advanced techniques

Black dyeing is a technique in which metal is immersed in a liquid to dye it black.
Unlike paint, it penetrates the surface and discolors it to a thickness of just 1 micron.
The color change occurs with an extremely thin film, making it possible to achieve a black blade all the way to the tip without affecting sharpness.

To put it in perspective, painting is like "makeup" and black dyeing is like "tanning."
It will not peel off even if scratched and will maintain its black color for a long time.
The black coating provides rust prevention and makes it suitable for heavy outdoor use.

Each piece has a different surface pattern dyed in black, giving it a unique look.
The black-dyed blade also changes over time, allowing you to enjoy the process.
After use, remove any dirt and apply knife oil, and the more you use it, the more it will develop its own unique black color.

◾️How to split firewood with a hatchet (badoning)

Precautions

●As this is a bladed tool, please handle with care.
●If you hit the hatchet with a metal hammer, the hatchet itself may break, so please hit it with firewood.
●Please be careful not to leave the product wet as this may cause rust.
After use, wipe off any dirt and apply oil. (We recommend using anti-rust oil, available at hardware stores.)
●Black soot may remain, but this is iron oxide produced by a chemical reaction and is not harmful to the human body.
●Due to slight unevenness in the black dyeing, each piece has a different appearance.
●There may be traces of jigs or liquid drips left behind from the manufacturing process.
●Depending on the ingredients that come into contact with the black dye, a chemical reaction may occur, resulting in metallic specks.
●If oil or moisture remains, it can cause stains and rust.
●Rubbing with hard or sharp objects may cause the black dye to fade.
Also, the black dye may fade with prolonged use.
●Leaving dirt on the product may cause discoloration or rust.
